Cecil Surber

Cy Surber, 91, died Saturday, October 11, 2008 at his home. The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 14, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at Lincoln Cemetery in Granger, Iowa.
Cy was born March 16, 1917 to Helen and Laures Surber in Granger, Iowa. He was a proud East High Graduate of the class of 1936. He worked as a machinist at Ford Implement Company. He was a member of the Bondurant VFW, Boline Manfredi Post 9662, Za Ga Zig Shrine, and was a 32nd Degree Mason.
Cy is survived by his children: Larry (Sharen) Surber of Dallas County, IA, Michael Surber of Des Moines, and Sheila (Tim) England of Berwick; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and his sister, Doris Olson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife Maxine.
