Maxine McDowell

Maxine McDowell, 88, died Thursday, October 9, 2008 at CLC Altoona. Funeral services will be held at 1p.m. Monday, October 13, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Maxine was born November 27, 1919 in Allerton, IA to Oscar and Annie Cox. She was a nurse’s aid in the pediatric department at Broadlawns Medical Center for 25 years before her retirement in 1981. Maxine worked hard all of her life. She enjoyed word puzzles, watching t.v. and reading the National Enquire.
Maxine is survived by her grandson, Cletus (Melinda) Morrill; great granddaughter, Natalie Morrill; step-great granddaughter, Sarah Bohmke; niece, Marple (Jorge) Cano; nephew, David (Linda) Allen; and 12 grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George; daughters, Carole Lynn Morrill and Gail Peterson; and her sisters, Julia Belle McDowell, Catherine Cox and Vivian Allen.
