Gladys "Faye" Whitlatch

Gladys “Faye” Whitlatch, 80, passed away on December 9, 2018 at Genesis Senior Center in Des Moines. She was born in Des Moines on June 6, 1938 to Charles and Gladys Piper.

Faye retired from U.S. West after 21 years of service. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting. Above all, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her loving family.

Faye is survived by her sons, Raymond (Jeanette), Steve (Jewel), Lanny, Mike (Kathie) and Donald (Michelle) Whitlatch; daughters, Mona Riddiford and Thora Whitlatch; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Betty (Les) Erickson; brother, Jim Piper; and many extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; daughter, Marcy; grandsons, Shawn and Antonio; granddaughter, Brandy Elizabeth; and brothers, Mike and Gary.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M., on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
