I worked with Linda at Des Moines Hearing and Center in the 70's. She was so much fun to work with and helped me personally once during a hard time. She is someone I have never forgotten. My sympathies to her family.

I met Linda in graduate school where we shared training together at the Des Moines Child Guidance Center and have been blessed in having a friendship with her ever since. I believe I am a better person and the world a better place for her time with us. Her sense of joy was matched with her great compassion and a skill in serving others in distress and loyal in her friendships. I will miss you Linda.

Even though Linda was in pain and had difficulties with her body working as well as she would have liked she didnt complain about any of it. Instead, she chose to be positive and focus outside herself by encouraging others in their pursuits, working with individuals in Toastmasters, Talent Ltd, Democratic politics and in the League of Women Voters. Deborah Turner, a past president of League of Women Voters said Linda was very committed and helpful to the league and their projects. Linda also helped people less fortunate than herself. She always looked after her friends and helped them in any way she could. One of her favorite things to do was pick up her friends for an evening meal in various restaurants in Des Moines. I benefited several times when she treated all of us to a wonderful meal. Linda was a generous person with her love of humanity, her community, her friends and her family.
I was lucky to have visited with Linda in her room on Monday before she went into the hospital. She was in good spirits, she looked great and we had a nice conversation. I only met Jerry once, but it was clear to me how much she loved him. That day she spoke of Jerry and how much she enjoyed taking care of him during his illness. I had opportunities to help Linda and she helped me in many ways too. In our last conversation she was once again helping me by being a great listener. I am blessed to have shared the love of friendship with LInda. I love her and I will miss her.

Linda Skeers was one of the most benevolent and empathetic professionals that I have known. Over the years, I have observed her giving of herself, not only to those who were hurting; but also to some very worthy causes. Most notably, Linda did a photographic essay regarding our school, Longfellow Elementary. To the Lazano Family, this day as always I salute and celebrate Linda. Bobbretta Brewton

I remember hearing stories of her holding me as an infant and enjoying it quite a bit. While we are all sad to see your time on earth end, we know you are in a better place, especially with Jerry. We love you and will miss you!
