My "Aunt Judy" was my "big sister" during our childhoods. I was born a little more than 3 years after she was, and we always were close -- at least until she got to be a teenager and had little time for 10-year-old boys. But as we grew older we realized that we still had that sister-brother thing. Some my formative experiences were overseen and regulated by my Aunt Judy, who never forgot her growing up period living on the farm with 4-mile-creek running through it. She instigated many adventure that included me and, a few years later, my little sister Peggy -- and then later my brother Steve. We hunted mushrooms, tried to fish in the creek, swam in the horse tank when it was drained for a short time during those incredible hot summer days in Iowa. Judy and I rambled through some of those fun times the last time I visited her in July. Her mind and speech patterns had been ravaged by disease by that time, but she and I carried on a 45-minute conversation: she would grin and squeeze my hand when we recalled how much fun (and occasional mischief) the two of us had had. I left Valley View that day to pick up my wife
(who is suffering much the same ailment that attacked Judy) and head back to our home in Minnesota. It was the last time to see my Aunt Judy, but the memory of that visit is imprinted deeply in my heart.

My condolences to Brian, Kurt and Julie. I also worked with Judy at Firestone and we had some good times together. If it weren't for Judy I never would have understood the many changes in our Firestone insurance plans. RIP sweet angel.
