Alice Erickson

Alice May Erickson passed away peacefully November 25, 2018, on her 86th birthday. Alice was born in Hiteman, Iowa to Fred and Nettie (Smead) Mincks. She married Willard Erickson on June 17, 1950 and was primarily a homemaker for her entire life. Her most important work was raising her children and taking care of her family. Alice was a member of Berean Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, crafts, and needlepoint. One of her favorite pastimes was watching wrestling on TV (or as Alice called it, “rasslin”) and her favorite wrestler was Pat O’Conner. Her family will fondly remember that as a younger woman, she used to dance the jitterbug in the street. She was a fun-loving, caring person who never met a stranger. She loved children and did childcare and babysitting for family and friends.

Alice is survived by her children, David (Bev) Erickson, Kathleen Erickson, Carl (Terri) Erickson, and Rick (Joan) Erickson, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard in April of 2018; daughter, Wynette Wright; eight siblings; and her grandsons, Josh and Benjamin Erickson.

Funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Please stay following the funeral service for a time of visiting and fellowship until 5:00 p.m. Cremation will take place following the services. Private interment will happen at a later date.
