Doris Landwehr
November 24, 2018
Doris D. Landwehr died on November 24, 2018, following a three year battle with cancer. She was born June 7, 1924 to Harry and Marie (Zeiter) Roussin. She was baptized Mildred Frieda Roussin and entered the Community of the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood at age 14. Doris gave complete service to the Church as a dedicated teacher in various cities and states for over 35 years. After receiving a dispensation from Rome she married Richard (Dick) Wayne Dinsmore in 1979 and they were married for five years before he passed away. She later married Roger George Landwehr in 1996.
Doris is survived by her second husband, Roger; her sister, Sister Mary Lou Roussin; 9 step children; 22 step grandchildren; 24 step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Marie Roussin; brothers, John and Donald Roussin; first husband, Dick Dinsmore; and stepson, Kenneth Landwehr.
Doris was an active member of All Saints Parish, Bishop Drumm Guild, Catholic Women’s League, Catholic Daughters of America, Mercy Hospital Guild, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Altar and Rosary Society, Friendship Force and the American Legion Auxillary. She often held leadership/director roles in these organizations. Teaching others was an important part of her life and she taught both public and parochial school children well into her 80’s. She provided instruction to RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) candidates, and also provided some individual tutoring. Doris loved flowers and was involved in local gardening clubs. She also very much enjoyed dancing and was a member of several dance clubs. Doris was an example to all of us in how to accept everyone for who they are, and made a point of handing out several compliments and smiles to others each and every day.
There will be a visitation on Friday, November 30, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., including a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Funeral Mass will be at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue in Des Moines on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy Hospice or Calvin Community Assisted Living in loving memory of Doris.

My deepest sympathy for your loss. What seems to be a long life is never long enough where our loved ones are concerned. Our Heavenly Father Jehovah feels the same way. That is why He has promised to swallow up death forever and soon end all our suffering. (Rev. 21:3-5; Isa. 25:8) May His promises be a soothing balm for your grieving hearts.
