James Hewitt

James Robert “Bob” Hewitt, 66, of Des Moines died Thursday, December 28, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Burial will be in Laurel Hill. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
James was born January 14, 1940 to Henry and Flossie Beatrice McElvogue Hewitt. On January 27, 1962 he married Marilyn Kay Carico. James was the owner and operator of J.R. Hewitt Trucking Service. He was a member of Teamsters # 90, and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, bowling, heckling people, and spending time with his family and friends.
James is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Des Moines; one daughter, DeeDee (Rick) Avery of Des Moines; six grandchildren, Jason Butters, Joe (Sara) Butters, Kenny Avery, Korey Avery, Stephanie Butters, and Ashley Butters, two great grandchildren, Destiny and Kaydence Butters; one sister, Ada Versteeg and host of other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Flossie, one daughter, Kimberly Butters, and one sister, Betty Jean Horton.
