Aileen Katherine Pilger, 93, died Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Kavanagh on 56th St. in Des Moines. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Ankeny Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday prior to the service.
Aileen was born June 27, 1915 in Kansas City, KS to Elfrieda and Reuben Anderson. She worked for many years as a secretary for Rock Island Railroad. Before retiring, she worked for Door of Faith Mission. During World War II, she helped in Germany with the Red Cross. After the War, she sang on tour with Bob Crosby and The Bobcats.
Aileen is survived by her loving husband of 59 years. Ralph, Sr.; her children: Ralph (Jolyn) Pilger, Jr., and Sandra Pilger; and her brother, Norman (Irene) Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Dorothy Maupin.
Memorial contributions may be made to Berean Assembly of God, the Speed of Light fund.

I am so sorry to hear of Aileen's death. She was a good woman and I shall always remember her helping out at the Arabian Horse Shows. You are all in my thoughts and prayers as you go forward, especially during the next few days.
