Vanessa McPherson, 52, died Monday, September 29, 2008 at Kavanagh on 56th. Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Heritage Assembly of God, 5051 NE 5th St. in Des Moines.
Vanessa was born July 3, 1956 to Cecil and Verda Crawford in Des Moines. She married David McPherson on December 28, 1973. Vanessa graduated valedictorian from North High, Class of 1974. She was the co-pastor of the Leon Assembly of God Church for three years and President of the Southern Iowa Women’s Aglow. Vanessa loved gardening but her true passion in life was serving people.
Vanessa is survived by her husband, David McPherson; daughter, Jessica (Bobby) Dumas and grandchildren, Caleb, Chloe and Camden; son, Jeremy McPherson and grandchildren, Mariah and Jeremy, Jr.; parents, Cecil and Verda Crawford; brothers, Mark and Tim Crawford; and her sister, Mary (Doug) Lutz.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kavanagh House on 56th St.

To Mary,Verda and Cecil,
I am so sorry for your loss. Growing up with Vanessa on Cornell will always be very dear to my heart. I have wonderful memories of us going to Saylor and Harding. If I wasn't at your house, she was at mine. I got married in 1976 and moved away. I wished we would have kept in touch. I asked many times about her through the years. I feel very blessed to have known her and that we shared a part of our lives together. Sending a very big ((Hug)) from Quincy, Illinois.

Vanessa was a blessing to everyone especially to my fmily and my girls Loleta and Maria , Vanessa and Dave were there when they were both crowned honor stars in Missionettets program in fact they drove us up to Falling Waters WVA, they were always the same everytime you seen them, Vanessa has just begun to live in the presence of Jehovah my condolences got out to Jessica, Bobby, Jeromy and Bro Dave and allthe grandchildren you are in our thoughts and prayers always , Love Shirl, Loleta, and Maria

Vanessa was such a sweet lady. She was a great support to my parents through the years. She will be missed. We send our love and condolences to the family. You are in our prayers.

The Lord brought one of His angels home today. Vanessa was a dear friend, a beautiful person and an awesome Child of the King. She led me to the Lord in the early 70's...and we have remained friends ever since....but that was her...a friend forever. I will miss her but I know she's in the Father's presence and that brings me peace. My very best hugs and kisses to Dave, Jessica, Jeremy and all that loved her.
