Kathryn Hansen

Kathryn R. Hansen, 48, passed away Monday, September 22, 2008 at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Funeral services will be held 10 am Friday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Kathy was born November 22, 1959 in Story City to Herbert and Donna Hansen. She graduated from NE Hamilton High School in Blairsburg and the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing. Kathy was a nurse at Iowa Methodist Medical Center for 27 years. She loved being with her grandchildren and family. Kathy had a passion for scrapbooking and had won awards at the Iowa State Fair.
Left to honor Kathy’s memory are her son, Tyler Hansen of Jacksonville, Arkansas; her two grandchildren, Jayden and Joslyn Hansen of Norwalk; her parents, Herb and Donna Hansen of Prairie City; her brothers, Don (Sherry) Hansen of Prairie City and Dave (Annette) Hansen of Norwalk; her sister, Debbie (Marty) DeDecker of Altoona and two nieces and six nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Hansen and her grandparents.
Memorial contributions may be given in her name to either the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation or Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House.
