Connie Rae Price
November 16, 2018
Connie Rae Price, 72, peacefully departed this world on Friday, November 16, 2018. She was surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home in Altoona, Iowa.
Connie was born October 24, 1946 in Des Moines to John and Dessie (Brady) Sorensen and enjoyed an active, rural childhood with her siblings, cousins, and friends. She graduated from Altoona High School in 1964, attended Grand View College and completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Northern Iowa in 1968.
Connie was a passionate and effective high school business teacher for over 40 years. She put creativity and heart into her teaching and loved to see her students succeed. Her early career took her to Indiana, then to Wisconsin where she met Keith Price, the love of her life. The two were married in 1973 and moved to Iowa in 1977. Connie taught at Mingo High School, then at Colfax-Mingo until retirement.
Connie was an incredible hostess and cook. “Sunday Dinner” was a celebration during which family and friends shared prayer, stories, and laughs on a weekly basis.
A lifelong member of the Pleasant Hill Church of Christ, Connie was a devout Christian and loved her congregation dearly.
Connie will be remembered for her generosity and wisdom. Her final days were full of visits from family, friends, neighbors, and former students sharing their love and admiration. She will be greatly missed but those closest to her take comfort in knowing the exceptionally kind and Christian life she lived.
Connie is survived by her husband, Keith Price; daughters, Jennifer (Chip) Albright and Erica (Bob) Goltra; step-children, “Tiger” Bill Price, Julie (Bob) Jones, Michael (Cyndi) Price; siblings, Pam, John (Sherri) and Pete Sorensen; grandchildren Lilly and Annabel Albright, Elle Goltra, step-grandchildren Amanda, Matthew, Danielle, Samantha, Ryan, Joshua, Grant, and step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 20 from 5 to 7 PM at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will take place Wednesday, November 21 at 11 AM, also at Hamilton’s, and will be followed by cremation.

I am Connie's second cousin. Our grandmothers were sisters. We spent time together as children and lost touch, except for one time, as adults. I remember her and her sibs and parents with great fondness and want to express my sincere sorrow to all.

I will always cherish the memories and fun times with Connie and entire family and especially the early days often going up to Colo with mom and dad who were especially close to John ( Big John) and Dessie at the farm and us kids out playing. Many tears have flowed with the passing of the Sorensen parents and now with our beloved cousin, Connie.
May we always remember and continue to love one another.
My love to all.

May you all find comfort in God during this time! Mrs. Price touched so many of us by being an educator and will live on in so many she has touched.
