Rose Palmer

Rose Anna Palmer, age 84, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Adel Acres in Adel, Iowa.
Rose was born in Des Moines, Iowa on Christmas Day, 1933. She was the daughter of first generation Irish immigrants, Thomas and Ella (Lowe) Roney. Rose worked as a professional singer and musician for 15 years with the Palmer’s family band, the Western Tones. She was also employed by Parker Brothers Games and Dee Zee Manufacturing. One of her favorite pastimes was riding on the Gold Wing motorcycle with her husband, John. Family was everything to Rose and she treasured time spent with them. Rose will be remembered lovingly as a good Christian woman with a heart of gold. She will be forever missed by all who knew her.
Rose is survived by her children, Karon (Alan) Fagan, Brenda Palmer, and Jeff Palmer (Cathy Burch), seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, other loving relatives, and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Palmer, daughter, Shelly Jo Palmer, sister, Katherine Weaver, and her parents, Thomas and Ella Roney.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 18 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, November 19, also at Hamilton’s, and will conclude with burial at Pine Hill Cemetery.
Contributions may be directed to the family to assist with the expense of Rose’s headstone placement.
