Larry R. Gilliam

Larry Ray Gilliam was born April 25, 1939 in Des Moines to Herbert and Reva (Zenor) Gilliam. He died Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the age of 79.
Larry served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans. His hobbies included his motorcycle, traveling and being surrounded by family.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol; children, Dale (Jody) Gilliam, Barbara (Glen) Wilson, Sharon (George) Bracelin, April (Darin) Leonard, and Brenda (Roy) Fazio; sister, Karen Caldrider; 16 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Reva Gilliam; brother, David Gilliam, and his sister, Joyce Stout.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2018 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, with burial to follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Indianola. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral.
Contributions may be directed in loving memory of Larry to Faith Independent Assembly of God Church where he was a member – 6001 SW 14th St, Des Moines, IA 50315.

Carol: So sorry to learn of Larry's death. It was our privilege to get to know him for a short time. We won't have a way to get to his service but our thoughts and prayers will be with you. Still miss you here but I'm happy you are in Indianola where I know you prefer to be. We love you, Carol.

So sorry to hear about Larry. He was such a nice man with a fun sense of humor. Knowing he was a Christian means everything. I will be praying for all of you - may God give you the comfort you need at this time.
