Service Details

Elizabeth "JJ" Greenwell

On November 1st, 2018, JJ lost her long and courageous battle with gallbladder cancer at the Kavanagh Hospice House. From the day she was diagnosed with this terrible disease she was determined to beat it and for those that knew her strength and courage this was not a surprise. Her family would like to send a special Aloha to Dr's Elsawy, Dr Elhaddad and their entire staff for the loving care and support they gave throughout this battle.

She was born in Owosso, MI in April of 1945 where she was adopted, and moved to Hawaii where she called home, until moving to Iowa in 1987. Those who loved her called her Mom, Grams or GG. JJ was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. She also enjoyed watching the Royals, NASCAR, figure skating, and horse races. She enjoyed sewing and quilting for her family and friends. JJ loved animals, especially her beloved golden Maggie. JJ lived an adventurous life working as a cattle rancher, truck driver, surgical tech, and finally as a driver for both PDI and Joy Ride and a home health aide. Every occupation she chose, she dedicated her life to and gave it her all. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than paying attention to the little details others often overlooked to make people feel special in their time of need and this helped her flourish as a health care worker.

JJ was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Sally Lowrey; her brother, David Lowrey; her son, Robert Greenwell; and her granddaughter, Jennifer Lloyd.

She leaves behind her sons, William Lloyd, Charles Lloyd (Sherry); daughter, Kathy Oliveira; daughter-in-law, Kim Greenwell; grandchildren, Jessica Greenwell, Lynn Lloyd, Logan & Brooke Oliveira, Taylor, Casey and Bailey Enderton-Lloyd; greatgrandchildren, Hailey, Knight and Sailor Hook, Landon Goforth, Izaiah Miller Jr.; as well as many co-workers, patients and friends that will miss her greatly.

A Hui Hou Kakou - Until we meet again.
