Arzelle Ritchie

Arzelle Theodora Ritchie, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Altoona Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Arzelle was born on November 9, 1932, in Des Moines, Iowa to Theodore & Agnes Satre. She was raised on a farm on the southside and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950. She lived in Des Moines for 39 years and had four beautiful children. Arzelle then spent the next 46 years in Las Vegas, NV before coming back home to Des Moines in November of 2017.

She loved spending time with friends and family and enjoyed hosting and serving her famous spaghetti dinner. She loved playing cards, dominos and just having fun. She will be dearly missed.

Arzelle is survived by her sister, Marilyn Wilson; her children, Craig (Peggy) Hutchinson, Cynthia Manning, Connie Hutchinson; as well as her nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant daughter, Christy; her sister, Shirley Bryan; her brothers, Jerry Satre and Warren Satre; and her significant other, George Williams, Jr.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; followed by a short "Celebration of Life Remembrance" on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Hamilton's Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona.

Memorial contributions can be made to Altoona Nursing and Rehabilitation (200 7th Avenue SW, Altoona, IA 50009) who assisted in Arzelle's care during the last 11 months.
