Virginia Hayes, 101 of Des Moines, IA passed away peacefully on October 20, 2018. Services will be at a later date.
Virginia was born September 14, 1917 in Des Moines, IA. She graduated from East High school and continued her education at a Des Moines beauty school. Virginia worked as a receptionist at the Des Moines Social Club in the Ruan Center for more than 40 years, retiring just 6 years ago.
In her earlier years, Virginia was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In her later years she enjoyed spending time on the slot machines at Prairie Meadows and often shared her winnings with her grandchildren.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Vicki (David) Wolfe; grandchildren, Chris (Jennifer) Owen and Bradley (Wendy) Owen; great-grandchildren, Carter, Jonathan, Grace, and Shane; niece, Nancy (Rex) Kepford; nephew, Robert Timmons; and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Perdue; infant son, Michael; and sister, Betty Timmons.

Virginia was an icon at the Des Moines Club and will be greatly missed. We all have very fond memories of Virginia. She was pithy, and feisty, loved a good joke, and she greatly enjoyed interacting with all of the club members and staff. My sympathies to Virginia's family.
