Elizabeth Hummel

Elizabeth Anne Hummel, 56, died Friday, September 12, 2008 at Bright Kavanagh House. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Elizabeth was born June 27, 1952 to Bill and Emmalieu Hunt in Chicago, IL. She moved to Des Moines to attend Drake University where she earned a BA in Education and met her husband of 33 years, Bill. She worked at Principal Financial for 25 years as a Senior Vice President – Default Administrator and worked in a similar position for GMAC in Waterloo for the past three years. Elizabeth enjoyed the Iowa State Fair, flea markets, farmer’s markets, antiques, and shopping. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Regina (Scott) Toney, William John Hummel, Phillip Hummel, Adam Hummel, and Alex (Tasia) Hummel; grandchildren, Justin, Chance, Deliah, and Elicee; brothers, Steve Hunt, Danny Hunt, and John Hunt; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or Bright Kavanagh House.
