Larry M. Masear, 82, passed away after a long illness with COPD on September 10, 2008 at home surrounded by his family. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Larry’s life at a visitation from 4 to 7pm Monday, September 15, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Funeral services will be held 11 am Tuesday, at the funeral home followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Larry was born September 3, 1926 in Gowrie, IA to Paul and Eva Masear. He served in the US Army during World War II. Larry retired from Super Valu Stores Inc. where he was a truck driver. He was a member of Baldwin Patterson American Legion Post 274 and the Teamsters Retirees Local 147. Larry loved spending time with his family. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching wrestling.
Larry is survived by his children, Jim (Jeannette) Masear, Jane Senter, Cara (Tim) Reed and Jeff Masear; his grandchildren, Jamie (Brandon) Schroeder, Jodi Masear, Mike, (Carrie) Greg, Steve (Heather) Smith, Sean (Casey)and Ethan Crees, Chad, Ali, Nic, and Chris Reed and Lexi Masear ; his great grandchildren, Tim McDonel and Morgan Crees, step great grandchildren, Kallie, Amanda, A.J., Megan, Jacob and Danyelle Smith, Megan and Jessie Anderson; his sisters, Ethel Rhoades, Pauline (Frank) Haworth; his sister-in-law, Rose Masear. Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, his brother, Marlin and his sister, Mae Gray.
