Freel Beener

Freel “Bud” Beener, 89, passed away surrounded by his family at his home Monday, September 8, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Bud was born June 28, 1919. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 34th Red Bull Division. Bud retired from Iowa Packing Company. He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening and carpentry projects.
Bud is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lillian; daughter, Dixie (Don) Smith; son, John (Hannah) Johnson; sisters, Darline Weaver, Josephine Heston and Phyllis (Roy) Moorer; 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Chuck Beener; sister, Ellen Landman; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Beener.
