Cecil Haus

Cecil Dale “Papa Cecil” Haus, 68, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 3, 2008. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.
Cecil was born September 8, 1939, in Des Moines to Cecil B. and Ruth L. Haus. He married Marie E. Pickett on February 2, 1963, in Ankeny, Iowa.
After his retirement, Cecil worked at Papa John’s Pizza for several years delivering pizza. He enjoyed fishing, poker and pool nights with his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Cecil is survived by his wife, Marie; three daughters, Mischelle (Robert) Smith, Kim Schrier and Julie (Lee) Earles; son, Glenn (Shannon) Haus all of Des Moines; mother-in-law, Arthilla Pickett of Des Moines; three brothers, Oscar, Sam and Larry, all of Des Moines; five sisters, Sharon (Bruce) Farrell, Judy (John) Smith, Joan Raye and Joyce Schroeder, all of Des Moines and Ruth Rice of Franklin, NC; 12 grandchildren, Chris, Jessica, Melissa, Jennifer, LeahAnna, Sammantha, Amber, Glenn Jr., Dakota, Nicholas, Kari and Shawn, all of Des Moines; 15 great-grandchildren, Alexa, Biannca, HayLee, Mark Jr., Leah, Katie, Tiffany, Michael, Mariah, Katrina, Joshua, Issiac, Kelsie, Delilah and Shelby; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Grow; brothers, Leroy, Carl, Earl, Bill, Joseph and Jack; sister, Marjorie “Minnie” Hess; and his parents.
