Richard Jennings

Rick Jennings, 58, of Carlisle passed away on September 1, 2008 following a motorcycle accident. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Altoona with burial following at Avon Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5-8 P.M. Friday evening at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. Rick was a retired Fire Medic with the Des Moines Fire Department where he had worked for over 30 years and had recently worked part time for Fraser Ambulance. He was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed working on classic cars with his dad and was the manager of the Carlisle youth softball team that went to state in the late 1980’s. Rick loved traveling with his wife and was an avid outdoorsman. He is survived by his wife Dianne of Carlisle, his parents Ralph and Darlene Jennings of Des Moines, his children Amanda Even of Waterloo and Beth Jennings of Carlisle, his brother Steven (Diana) Jennings of Florida, his step children Christy (Jeff) Lindsay of Prairie City, Mark (Katie) Steenhoek of Norwalk and Brian (Jamie) Steenhoek of Prairie City, his grandchildren T.J. (Thomas) Even, Daisy Even, Mary Waldron and Grant Even, his step grandchildren Trey, Cade and Tori Lindsay and Samuel, Olivia, Sophia and Gavin Steenhoek. He was preceded in death by his grandson Preston Jennings Johnson. He will also be greatly missed by his loving dog Kane. Memorial contributions may be made to the Des Moines Fire Department.
