Melody "Ody" Spencer

Melody “Ody” Spencer, 58, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Ody was born November 6, 1959, in Des Moines, Iowa to Wayne and Dorothy (Stoneburner) Spencer. She enjoyed nature, especially watching the birds and squirrels. Ody loved playing pool and will be remembered as a skilled “pool shark.” She collected pigs, both stuffed and ceramic. Ody adored her family and treasured spending time with her grandchildren above all else.

Ody is survived by her life partner, Pat Murphy; daughter, Christina (Josh) Heady; grandchildren, Damian Miller, Devin Miller, Jasmine Miller, and Josh “J” Heady; sister, Tawanna Spencer; many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Dorothy Spencer and her brother, Doug Spencer.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, October 14, 2018, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
