Lorrie Lea Munsinger
October 06, 2018
Lorrie Lea Munsinger, 69, passed away October 6, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at Kavanagh on 56th Street.
Lorrie was born April 2, 1949 in Erie, Pennsylvania to Ted and Betty Manross. She moved to Des Moines in 1975. Lorrie left an executive position with an insurance company to watch her grandchildren, which resulted in her starting her own in-home daycare. She loved children and had a great impact on the lives of those that attended her daycare. Lorrie continued caring for children up until recently, when her health would no longer allow it. Lorrie was an active member of Wakonda Christian Church. She loved gospel music and she and her husband were members of the Gloryland Singers for over 17 years. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially to Branson, Osage Beach and going on cruises.
Lorrie is survived by her loving husband, Ron Munsinger; children, Jeff (Jay) Munsinger, Russ (Karen) Munsinger, Katie (Paul) Wade and Kirsten (Corey) Johnson; grandchildren, Jadie, Cody, Lydia, Ben, Max, Mandy, Scott and Brody; great-grandchildren, Kinleigh, Lily and Brock; her extended family, including the many children from her daycare that will always remember her as “Grandma Lorrie”.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Phil; and granddaughter, Ashton.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2018 at Wakonda Christian Church, 3839 Fleur Drive. A “kid friendly” memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 13th at the church. Lorrie will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Wakonda Christian Church’s youth programs in loving memory of Lorrie.

The loss of a loved one is a very sad and heavy load to bare. The best friend a bereaved person can have is our creator, Jehovah God. Pour out your heart to him in prayer, because "he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7)Also, in the near future, God promises to resurrect the dead. (John 5:28,29) We can have faith in what God says because "he cannot lie."(Titus 1:2) Please accept my deepest sympathy.

I want to express my deep sympathy to the family. I did line dancing classes with Lorrie many years ago. Lorrie impacted many through her big smile, warmth, and ability to be a friend to everyone she met. There is no doubt in my mind this great lady will be deeply missed by those left behind.

To our sweet lady~you have guided our whole family for 17 years. The little nuggets of advice you gave us over the years are invaluable. I always enjoyed before I walked out the door you gave me a little something to think about. The lonely high road was a constant theme. Such a hard road to stay on & less traveled by many. Rest in peace my sweet lady.
