Kelsie Boyd, 27, gained her wings Thursday, October 4, 2018, at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.

Kelsie (also known as Kels or Kelsie Bell) was born June 28, 1991 in Des Moines, Iowa. She loved all kinds of music and everything about nature. Her favorite season was fall and she especially loved Halloween. Kelsie’s family and friends will remember fondly how she had a bit of a morbid streak and liked everything about the horror genre. But just to keep you guessing, she also loved Hello Kitty so much that it was her first tattoo. She worked for the Tavern for over seven years and considered them her second family. Above all else, Kelsie adored being Mommy to her son, Emmet. They had a special bond and he was the most important thing in the world to her.

Kelsie is survived by the love of her life, Kris Cordaro and their son, Emmet; mother, Geniveve Krugler (Shawn); father, Shon Boyd (Christina); grandma, Jan “Nana” Johnson (Ted); siblings, Madison Krugler, Michael Krugler, Lydia Krugler, and Jacob Krugler; nephews, Vinny and Mathew and niece, Ashlynn; grandparents, Melinda and Fred Marvelli, Tom Moorehead, Jack and Sharon Boyd, Mike and Faye Krugler, and Debbie Haley; sister-in-law, Jessica Ochoa (Kevin); brother-in-law, Joe Cordaro, Jr.; parents-in-law, Joe and Cindy Cordaro; aunts and uncles, Misty John, John and Abi Samson, Matt Moorehead, Nikki and Troy Green, Mike and Lisa Krugler, Shane and Lacey Krugler, Josh Sichra, Steven Krugler, Kevin Krugler, Brenda Haley, and Leslie Boyd; her sister from another mister, Erica Viola; and countless friends.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Kelsie.
