October 03, 2018
Madonna Mae Leber, 90, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018. She was born In Bagley, Iowa, on August 28, 1928, to Lloyd and Nora Netherton.
Donnie met the love of her life, Robert Leber, when she was 15 years old. They were later married and shared 65 years together until his passing in 2011. She was a secretary at Grinnell Mutual and retired after many years of faithful service.
Donnie loved attending her daily “Coffee Club” at Hy-Vee for more than 20 years. She also had a love for baking, especially Gingerbread Reindeer at Christmas time, and decorating all of the yummy Christmas cookies as well. Donnie was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed traveling.
Above all else, Donnie treasured time spent with her family, which included her dog Tiny, and earning her favorite title of “Gigi” by her beloved great-grandchildren.
Donnie is survived by her granddaughter, Melanie (Jason) Slater; grandson, Scott (Stacey) Leber; great-grandchildren, Madeline, Rebecca, Brandon, Evelyn, and Carson; special friends, Duane and Lois Lynch and Jeanie Conkling; as well as many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and many special friends.

It was always a special time when Donnie arrived at church for her hug and to let me know how her week had been and the day was going for her. She was a loving and gentle soul and I miss my times with her, but now she has her eternal home.

Melanie and Scott - we are so grateful of the love your Grandma gave to many and will never leave your (anyone's) hearts. She and your Grandpa were so proud of the both of you and what laid ahead for you and your families. We will truly miss - and were blessed - in her. Thank you for sharing her with us.

Donnie and Robert use to come into the clinic I worked in for years. I enjoyed seeing them so much. They were so sweet and so caring. I wish I had know how to reach Donnie so I could have come to visit her. I am so sorry for your loss but she is with Robert watching over all of you.
