Rebecca R. Krier
October 03, 2018
Rebecca Krier passed away October 3, 2018 at home with hospice. She was cared for by her loving daughter Natasha Krier.
She was born to Donald Abshire and Virginia Abshire in Louisville, KY on July 21, 1952. She had two brothers and one sister. She grew up in a modest household where her parents worked hard to support and provide for their family. While growing up Becky was always positive and joyful and easily made friends. She enjoyed playing baseball and was a good pitcher. Even the boys wanted her on their team.
She found a love of music and taught herself how to play a tenor saxophone by listening to old records and imitating the sounds. She couldn’t play as fast as a professional however, she produced a beautiful tone quality and vibrato from her instrument. She played in the church band for over 30 years. She also had a beautiful voice and sang in church during worship services and with several vocal groups.
She grew up a member of Gospel Assembly church and remained faithful to God her entire life. She loved the church and all the people dearly. She was active during services giving inspirational testimonies and encouraging others.
She devoted her life to her daughter Natasha and worked to give her every opportunity and supported her in every way. She and Natasha overcame a lot of challenges in life but still had a happy home and a close relationship.
Becky fought a courageous battle with cancer for six and a half years. She passed away with her daughter by her side and her faith intact as a shining example of God’s love.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 7, 2018, at Gospel Assembly, 7135 Meredith Drive. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to service time.

By their fruits you will know them
Becky was one of those people that was just sweet. Kindness emanated from her and to others. What a privilege it has been to know her. To have our paths cross as God planned. She passed that sweetness on to her sweet daughter Natasha. Naomi was no more blessed by Ruth that Becky was by her sweet daughter. We will meet again in that great gettin up morning

I wanted to leave a message to let the family know that I truly will miss Becky very much and I am praying for all of you. Becky was very kind to me. She had a Special Gift from the Lord. She sure helped me with her words of wisdom, her kindness and especially her love for the Lord. She was a true Child of God!!

Becky became our friend when we first came to Iowa in 1979 and a group of us went to Living History Farms that is when we got to know her joyful spirit. We stood beside one another in choir singing together with a group Bro. Goodwin started for many years I remember her goodie box she would share with the dry throat singers. We laughed together. Cried together, prayed with one another through many trials. She is loved . She has run her race kept the faith therefore a crown of righteousness is laid up for her . She will be missed.

Becky was a good friend to Bro. Gene and me. I know her family, friends and church family will miss her. She was always concerned as to how we were doing and about situations and illnesses we were going thru...putting others first!
