Julie K. Kauffman - Steele

Julie K. Kauffman-Steele, 59, passed away peacefully at home Friday, September 28, 2018.

Julie was born June 19, 1959 in Des Moines, Iowa to Jerry and Julia Kauffman. She met Jack Steele in Des Moines because she wanted to use his CB radio. They began dating after that and were married on February 18, 1978. They moved to Kansas City for 3 years in 1986. Julie worked for Coastal and Menards as a manager for several years. She loved her time at Menards and the friendships she made there. Julie enjoyed playing Farmville and watching her TV shows, especially Sci-Fi and reality TV.

Julie is survived by her husband of 41 years Jack, daughter Jessica (Luke) of Bondurant, brother Jerry (Barb) of Woodstock, GA, mother-in-law Dorene Steele of Bondurant, father Jerry Kauffman, Sr. of Polk City, and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son Justin, mother Julia, sister Joleen, and brother, Robert Russell.

Funeral services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. followed by burial at Bondurant Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Kidney Cancer Association or the ASPCA.
