Jerry Charles Miller entered eternal life, Monday, September 24, 2018.
Jerry was born July 4, 1923, the son of Marie (Higgins) and Jerry Miller.
He was a graduate of Des Moines Lincoln High School class of 1942. He is in the Lincoln Hall of Fame.
Jerry served during World War II in the Ninth Air Force European Theater of Operations with the 36th Fighter Group.
After returning from serving in the military, he was in the painting field and became the State Restoration Painter in 1976. His work involved the restoration of the painted art work at the State Capital and Terrace Hill. He was a member of the Painters Local Union 246.
After retirement he co authored the book, "The Iowa Capital a Harvest of Design". He was a member of the Kiwanis Golden K Club, the Des Moines Men’s Garden Club and the Santa Claus Club, which brought him great joy, entertaining children of all ages.
Jerry is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Beatrice, his parents, sister Betty and brothers Joe, Richard, Louis, Dale and Alan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 1, 2018 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. The family will greet friends Sunday, September 30th from 2 to 5 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, the Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.
