James Boozell, 84, was born on July 10, 1934, to Virgil and Kathryn Boozell in Webster City, Iowa. He passed away on September 16, 2018.
James was born and raised in Webster City and graduated from Webster City High School. He served in the United States Army. James was a member of the Teamsters and worked as a truck driver for Briggs and EMCO until his retirement in 2002. James loved animals, nature, spending time with his grandchildren, and enjoyed watching the Discovery Channel and Shark Week.
James is survived by his children, April, Tim (Shari), Patrick, Cindy (John Goheen) and Bobby; 10 grandchildren, Jesica, Jason, Robbie, Dennielle, Germaine, T.J., Darcy, Jamie, John, and Brian; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald (Theresa) and Michael (Ann); sister-in-law, Rosalie. He was preceded in death his parents; wife, Barbara Jean Dyer Boozell; son, Jay Alan Riley; brother, Vincent; sisters, Patricia Francis and Lorraine Byrne.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 21, 2018, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., also at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of James.
