Marilyn Joan Orlando, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, September 8, 2018.
Marilyn was born September 25, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa to Burt L. and Margaret M. (Forest) Smallwood. She married Joseph C. Orlando, and was employed as a freelance interpreter for the deaf until her retirement in 1998. She was a born again Christian and one of her greatest accomplishments was that all of her family believed in the Lord. She was a member of Kingsway Church. Marilyn enjoyed going to the senior center and bowling in tournaments. She was also very talented at crafts.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Orlando; children, Donald L. (Jane) Smith, Burt T. (Patti) Smith, Tanya R. (Jim) Scott, Tawana C. (Brad) Hays, Rosalie M. (Brian) Lumadue, Tomma J. (Ed) Kent, Timothy (Mary Jo) Orlando, and Vicky Orlando; 28 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her son, James Orlando, sisters, Alberta Brooks and Connie Szemborski, and her parents.
According to Marilyn’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services held.

I got to know Marilyn at Lee Town Assembly, We always made time to talk, she had such a sweet spirit. Will miss her a lot.
