Mark Brooks
September 06, 2018
Mark Allen Brooks was born April 12, 1961 in Des Moines Iowa to Sharon (O’Brien) Brooks and Vernon L. Brooks. He married at 17, started a family, and worked to support them. Then in construction joined the 177 Labor Hall. He was always in demand from the labor until a serious back injury disabled him. Although he was somewhat of a loner and in many ways a very private person, he never knew a stranger. He was always there to give a hand - our own rescue ranger. Mark had so many, many friends.
Mark loved the outdoors and often walked to the woods to enjoy nature, watch the birds and the animals. He loved fishing, rock and fossil hunting, and feeling needed as a back yard mechanic.
Mark loved and was protective of his three girls. He told them “No matter what happens to you in life you stay together and take care of each other. Life’s tough, no matter how many times it knocks you down you get back up because the world won’t stop even if you want it to.” Mark loved life and lived it to the fullest.
Mark passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018. He is survived by his daughters Christina Arellano, Megan Velez, and Kelsey Brooks, mother Sharon Brooks, 9 grandchildren, brother Jay (Penny) Brooks, sisters Tosha (Till) Brooks and Holly Fernandez, and a host of family and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his father Vernon L Brooks and three grandsons David, Nicholas and Christopher Arellano.

I now know why you were so hard on my your last few years, I should have payed attention to your words a little more...

I attended Hoyt Jr. High School for 6th grade. Mark was a very nice person. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family, at this time.

I am very sorry for your loss. Mark was a close friend to Ronnie. We loved him like family. He will be missed dearly by the Youngs. Mark and Ronnie and Chetty are most likely up in heaven reminiscing about the crazy adventures they shared while working together. My deepest sympathies to his family. R.I.P.
