Catherine Castro

Catherine Castro, 89, passed away on September 4, 2018 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. She was born in East Orange, NJ on August 23, 1929 to John and Anna Brennan.

Catherine grew up in New York and lived in Colorado for 43 years prior to moving to Des Moines. While living in Colorado she was a Youth Minister for the Catholic Church at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, she also led a Prayer group. She was also a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Catherine loved to dance and was an avid reader.

Catherine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Larry Kehoe and son, James and Andrea CastroLang; grandchildren, Sean (Aileen) Kehoe, Cathleen (Gareth) McGowan, Nicholas (Amanda) CastroLang and Brigid (Taylor) Counts; great grandchildren, Lucia, Rosie, Dylan, Cillian, Ella, Saviah and Adelaide; brother, Joseph (Mary) Brennan; sister, Anne Buchta and niece, Patricia (Steve) Blakely. Along with a host of beloved friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Angelo, parents, one brother and one sister.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, there will be a visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., with a Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 10:00 a.m., followed by a vigil.
