Michael Frank Richards

Michael Frank Richards, 50, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 12 p.m. at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway in West Des Moines, IA with visitation prior from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Burial will be at Iowa Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.

Mike was born in Des Moines, Iowa on December 25, 1967, the son of Don and Dolores Richards. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1986 and entered the US Marine Corp, serving for 4 years and then was called to duty for Dessert Storm. Following his service, he attended Iowa State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and later attended the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul, MN and obtained his Master’s in Business Administration. Mike worked at various mechanical engineering related positions and most recently for Nationwide Insurance in risk management.

In 1987, Mike married his high school sweetheart, Anjanette Webber. In 2004, their beautiful daughter, Paige was born. Mike cherished his time spent with Paige playing softball, Frisbee golf, and fishing. The family worshiped at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines.

He is survived by his wife, Anjanette; daughter Paige, both of Waukee, IA; his father, Don (Betty) Richards of Des Moines, IA; sister, Marianne Al-Sarraf of Kuwait; brothers, Jeff (Suzanne) of Waukee, IA, Chris (Tina) of Edmond, OK, Steve (Kelly) of Ankeny, IA, Phil (Cori) of Bettendorf, IA, and Nate of Des Moines, IA; his parents-in-law, Louis and Jan Webber of Adel, IA; 19 nieces and nephews; and 3 great-nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores.
