Karen Shepherd Seuferer

Karen Shepherd Seuferer, born April 15, 1934, passed away August 27, 2018. Per her request cremation has taken place. She will be laid to rest, with military honors, promptly at 9:30 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter followed by a Celebration of Life from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Edencrest at the Legacy, 2901 Cedar Street in Norwalk.
Karen graduated from East High School in January, 1952. She was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the WAF. She was an Administrative Assistant at Meredith Corp. before retiring. Throughout her life she was proficient in many handwork skills. Her primary interest was in being a weaver. She earned several awards at the Iowa State Fair. An example of her work can be seen at John Deere Financial in Johnston, Iowa.
Survivors are her sons, Christopher (Sharon) Robb and Eric (Jenny) Robb; daughter, Ruth Dusterhoft; three granddaughters, Lauren, Denise and Kirsten; grandson, Ryan; and many extended family and friends. Karen leaves a special family, Sue Alleman and her children, Angie (Tom) Ramirez, Hope Davis and Rob (Angela) Avila and their children.
Karen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank; her parents, Noah and Ruth (Cramer) Shepherd; brother, Robert Shepherd; and a grandson, Ben Robb.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League of Des Moines.

Sincere sympathy to all of Karen's family. Karen was a talented person and I've been thankful to have been her friend. We shared many good times through the years since we were young girls.
