Hammer Laughlin, 58, passed away August 19, 2018 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines.
Hammer was born August 30, 1959 in Des Moines to Donald and JonnaDeane (Watson) Laughlin. He served in the United States Navy from 1978 to 1987. Hammer was an avid Cleveland Browns fan.
Hammer is survived by his loving wife, Mindy; children, Marina Yelko, Chase Fust, JonnaDeane Laughlin, Dalton Laughlin, Cleveland Laughlin and Sailor Laughlin; grandchildren, Jaden and Aliah; brother, Michael (Delia) Laughlin; sisters, Kellie (Richard) Huffman and Shannon Gabriel; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas Laughlin; and his sister, Martie Appel.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, August 24, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with prayers and eulogy at 4:00 p.m. in the lower Parish Hall at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street.

Hammer, I remember our many football parties. Eating great food and having drinks. Wed so much fun. Also laughing and joking at are own individual character flaws. Trying to find the meaning of life. What stands out the most was the last time I saw you. You told me I was amazing and you loved my book. Always encouraging someone was your greatest gift. Fly high my beautiful friend. Ill miss you. My brother, My world!!! My heart just aches!! I will never forget our last talk together last Father's Day when I had to come to bury my biological dad, THANK YOU!!! I could never honor you enough for the love, support and guidance you always gave me!!
