Virginia Dawson, 78, passed away on August 18, 2018, in Des Moines. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas the daughter of Joaquin and Dolores Hernandez.
Virginia enjoyed collecting elephants and doing various craft projects. She loved flowers and gardening.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Lester; son, James Dawson; granddaughter, Karla Lampman and her children; brothers, Richard Hernandez and Manuel Hernandez. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Margaret; and brother, Freddy.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, August 24, 2018, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Virginia.

I am so sorry for your loss. Virginia lived across the street my sister and I knew her growing up. She was a very kind soul. I am lifting you all in prayer as you go through this difficult time.

Virginia was always a nice woman who has been in my life for almost 40 years. I know God is watching over her now she's always been a very godly woman and I know she is peaceful now, god bless her family and friends and I know it's a little for me to say but I don't want to be taking to much time.
