Chap Baccam

Chap Baccam, 78, passed away peacefully August 19, 2018, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, followed by cremation. A private burial will take place at a later date.

Chap arrived in Des Moines in 1976, and three days later started her first job at Iowa Methodist Hospital. Chap worked at Iowa Methodist until 1979. In 1979, Chap started working at Champion Glove until 1989, when they had lay-offs. Chap returned to working at Iowa Methodist Hospital and retired in 2005. She loved to garden, cook and she especially loved spending time with her family. Chap made lots of sacrifices for her family. She always made sure everyone else’s needs were taken care of before her own. Chap will be dearly missed by all.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory daughter, Ting (David Tay) Luu; sons, Khamphone Baccam, Khampheuy (Bounsoung) Baccam, Viengthong (Loi) Baccam, Khamphoui (Debbie) Baccam, Khamphai Baccam and Khamphuy (Lavanh) Baccam; sisters, Nhat Khouangsathien, Sing Saysopha, and Siang Bacthi; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Chap was preceded in death by her husband, Louane Baccam; brother, Luang Baccam; and sister, Say Baccam.
