Margaret Ellen Carlson

Margaret Ellen Carlson went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on August 17, 2018. She was the 8th of 12 children born to David and Nellie Hartman on February 28, 1921.

Margaret met her husband, Rudy Carlson, while both were working at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. They were married for 61 years. She worked at many various jobs, retiring from AT&T in 1978. Margaret was a member of Berwick Women’s Club and Berwick Congregational Church where she had many dear friends.

Margaret is survived by her brother, Ralph Hartman; 3 children, Judy McClain (Dave) of Pleasant Hill, IA, Midge Williams (Grady) of Tyler, TX, and Rick Carlson (Sue) of Robinson, IL; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 7 great great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., with the funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, August 24, 2018, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Berwick Congregational Church or UnityPoint Hospice, in loving memory of Margaret.
