Allen Johns passed away at his home on August 15, 2018. He was born in Des Moines, March 14, 1956, to Dwight and Mary (Leichti) Johns.
He was a graduate of North High School, Iowa State University, and Des Moines Area Community College. Al served in the Air Force. He worked most of his life for several Des Moines-area businesses in customer service and fulfillment.
Al was an Eagle Scout who loved the outdoors and camping. He especially loved canoeing and kayaking on the Upper Iowa River.
He was preceded in death by his parents and aunt, Dwala Johns. He is survived by his brothers Dwight Johns of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Steven Johns of Des Moines; uncle, Duane Johns of Des Moines; and nieces and nephews.
No formal services are planned. Memorial donations can be made to the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation.
