Janis Wiand
August 13, 2018
Janis K. Wiand was born March 24, 1946, in Des Moines to Walter and Mary Dingman. She passed away August 13, 2018.
Janis worked at Prairie Meadows as a Housekeeping Trainer for many years.
Janis was a lover of all animals, but had a special place in her heart for her cat Sunrise who just passed away last year. She also loved horses, especially at the Iowa State Fair, and she enjoyed visiting them at the stables on a work break from Prairie Meadows. Janis could make a pet out of any animal and did so by having a pet squirrel and pet skunk. Above all else, she treasured time spent with her family.
Janis is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Bruce Wiand; daughters, Veronica Dingman (Rodney See) and Paula (Raymond) Roll; three grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; sister- and brother-in-law, Sharon and Butch Miller, as well as other loving relatives and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary Dingman, and her brother, Jerry Jeffries.
A celebration of her life will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. There will be a burial at Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Janis.

My hugs and prayers to all family and friends of my Aunt Janis. She was always encouraging to me and had an ear to listen especially during my early teen years. Aunt Janis and my Uncle prepared many thanksgiving meals for me, always keeping a plate warm even if I worked late. I am grateful for the memories we have. She will be missed. Love , Tina
