Lois Ann Swift went to join her guardian angel family in Heaven on August 18, 2008 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on Christmas day (12/25/21) to Roy and Lucile Williams in Lakeview Iowa, Lois Ann was a selfless and devoted mother and grandmother. She was a source and example of grace, strength, patience and pride for her family throughout their lives.
Lois Ann began her career in nursing as a CNA in 1972 and continued to care for the sick and elderly until her retirement in 2000 from Commonwealth Care Center in Des Moines. As a founding member of Christ The King Church and family builder of Christ The King School, she was a source of inspiration and strong supporter of education.
Lois Ann was an avid reader and had a keen interest in politics and current events, particularly the presidential elections. Her incredible kindness and enormous sense of humor were always present and remained with her throughout her life.
Lois Ann joyfully raised seven children, Beverly Swift Ross (John), Lawrence Swift, Diane Swift Ramer (Chuck), Michael Swift (Mary Alice), Joseph Swift, Jr., Mary Jo Swift Norvell (Jerry Boesen) and Timothy Swift. These seven children joyfully raised 25 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild. She is also survived by her friend and companion, Moffy The Cat.
Lois Ann lived the last few weeks of her life at 56th Street Kavanagh House, where she received the utmost care, love and support.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Lucile Williams and Joseph Ambrose Swift, Sr.
Visitation will be held at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home on SW 9th, Thursday, 5-7 p.m., followed by a rosary service at 7p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, 10 a.m. at Christ The King Catholic Church with burial following at Elm Grove Cemetery.
