Raphel Ramirez

Ralph Ramirez, 84, died at his home, surrounded by his loving family, Monday, August 18, 2008 from lung cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Our Lady of the Americas Visitation Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with a vigil service at 7 p.m.
Ralph was born October 24, 1923 in Alex, Texas to Sabas and Mary Ramirez. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Ralph worked for the Rock Island Railroad and retired from the City of Des Moines. He was a member of Visitation Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Hispanic American Legion, Post 731 and a member of the Southeast Community Center..
Ralph is survived by his children Angel (Diane) Ramirez, Woody (Vickie) Ramirez, Reggie (Pam) Ramirez, Gina (Mike) Gomez and Raymond (Deanna) Ramirez; sister, Helen (Roman) Garcia; brother, Robert Ramirez; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; and a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Bert; daughter, Mary Cain; sisters, Zenida and Virginia; and his aunt, Abundia Lopez.
