Garold Shaw

Garold “Gary” L. Shaw, 69 of Des Moines entered into rest at his home the morning of August 18th after a brave battle with cancer.
He was born on February 23, 1939 to Dennis “Dutch” Granville Shaw and Madalon Josephine Shaw.
Gary proudly served in the US Army with Headquarters Battery, 2nd Howitezer Battalion, 13th Artillery, 4th Army at Fort Sill, OK. He later worked for several transportation companies before retiring from Cenex.
He enjoyed astronomy, reading and weekends at the lake but his true passion was spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife Glenda, three children: William Summy of North Carolina, Amy “Joie” Lami of Georgia and Kristin Smith of Des Moines, and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and relatives beginning at 9:00 a.m.

To my old pitch partner.... "Shoot the Moon" old friend, "Shoot the Moon"...I will always remember the laughter and good times we had in your kitchen on those hot or cold saturday nights....And I will always remember how we beat the girls almost every single game....
I have missed you and your family for quite some time... my condolences to Glenda, Kristen, Wil and Joie, and their families during this very painful time
