Nicolas Rodiguez

Nicolas Rodriguez, 73, died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Bright Kavanagh House. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Oralabor Cemetery in Ankeny. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Nicolas was born December 6, 1934. He was born and raised in the Southeast Bottoms of Des Moines and remained loyal to the “Bottoms” throughout his life. Nicolas served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed taking long Sunday car rides and spending time with his grandchildren. Nicolas was a member of the American Legion Hispanic Post 731.
Nicolas is survived by his children, Charles Beebe, Gerald (Tessie) Hope, Kathryn (Darin) Hopkins, Carolyn Hope and G. Nicolas (Anne) Rodriguez; sisters, Wecho, Juanita and Virginia; 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fernando and Manuela Rodriguez; brother, Paul; and sisters, Carol and Theresa.
