Duane Reisberg

Duane Henry Riesberg, 74, passed away with family at his side Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Mass of the Christian burial will be held Monday, August 18, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Halbur, Iowa. The family will be present at 1:30 p.m. prior to the mass.

Duane was born August 24, 1933 in Halbur, Iowa to Lawrence and Alvina Riesberg. He graduated in 1951 from Carroll High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. On September 14, 1957, Duane married Gloria Bluml at St. Augustine’s Church. Duane worked his entire career in the automotive industry including serving as Vice President at Sieg Company and owner of Riesberg’s Champion Auto. He and Gloria were long time members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll and most recently St. Mary’s of Nazareth Catholic Church in Des Moines.
While Duane lived in Carroll, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends and family. During his most recent years, he became an avid sports fan including his beloved Cardinals.
Duane is survived by his wife Gloria of Urbandale; daughters, Jen Duckworth (Dan) of Scottsdale, AZ and Brenda Dolan (Mike) of Urbandale; son, Michael Riesberg (Kim) of Urbandale; 7 grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions be used to establish memorial benches at Urbandale Little League where he spent many hours of enjoyment watching his grandchildren and son-in-law, Mike Dolan.
