Service Details
Ashlyn Echo Whipple, 2, died Saturday, August 2, 2008 at University of Iowa Hospitals from cancer. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at Altoona United Methodist Church, 602 5th Avenue SW. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at North Lawn Memorial Gardens near Iowa Falls.
Ashlyn was born May 19, 2006 to Lynn and Joan Whipple in Des Moines. She was a member of the Altoona United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing dress up, watching the birds and squirrels, and blowing bubbles.
Ashlyn is survived by her daddy and mommy, Lynn and Joan; twin sister, Addison; paternal grandpa and step-grandma, Virgil and Shirley Whipple of Hampton; maternal grandparents, Bob and Bonnie Rinken of Decorah; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandma, Echo Whipple; and uncle, David Rinken.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

I was so sorry to hear about Ashlyn. I know that she fought a hard fight and didn't win but she will be in your heart forever. I hope that knowing that she is with the Lord brings you peace.

Just close your eyes & open your heart and feel your worries & cares depart. Just yield yourself to the Father above, and let him hold you secure in his love.
For life on earth grows more involved, with endless problems that can't be solved. But God only asks us to do our best then he will take over and finish the rest.
so when you are tired discourage and blue there is always one door that is open to you and that is the door to the House of Prayer, and you'll find God waiting to meet you there. The House of Prayer is no further away than the quiet spot where you kneel and pray.

I work with Annette, Ashlyns' aunt, at Mayo and have been keeping in contact with caring pages. My heart goes out to you and your family. Ashlyn was a fighter and a strong little girl. She will always be everyones little angel.

Lynn, Joan, and Addison, I have never met you but had the extreme pleasure of meeting your beautiful Ashlyn. I work with Mark at the City of Williamsburg and he continually kept us up to date on both Addison and Ashlyn. What a precious gift you were given. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You will continue to be in my prayers!

I do not know your family, but I felt compelled to write. My nephew was born in Nov. 2007 and died at just 25 days from a rare heart condition. When he passed someone had given this saying to us and I wanted to share it with you. God Bless!!

I don't know you, but I read Ashlyn's obituary and am heartbroken for you. Such a precious, beautiful little girl. So sorry that she suffered from cancer and such pain in her short life. My husband and I have two little ones of our own awaiting us in heaven. We are happy to know that we will get to meet them one day. We will keep you in our hearts and prayers today and in the difficult days to come. We pray that God will give you comfort...as only He can give.

I am so sorry for your loss. Words cannot express the pain you must be going thru right now. It breaks my heart to think about the pain you and your fmaily must be suffering right now.
