Evelyn England

Evelyn England, 87, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Taylor House Hospice. Evelyn was born on August 28, 1920 in Des Moines County to Henry and Dorothy Lohmann.
Evelyn graduated from Burlington High School and Jr. College and University of Iowa. She taught in Iowa schools for 11 years and retired from Principal Financial Group in 1981. She was a member of the Highland Park Christian Church where she had volunteered in various activities. She enjoyed gardening, reading and was a member of the Highland Park Garden Club.
She is survived by twin daughters, Janice (Mark) Young of Ottumwa, IA and Joyce (Jon) Bahrenfus of Ogden, IA; son, James (Pam Bahr) England of Maquoketa, IA; four grandchildren, Sarah and Evan Young and Matthew and Emily England and a sister, Grace Lohmann of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, in 1968; her parents and a brother, Kenneth Lohmann.
Funeral services will be 10:00 Wednesday, August 6, 2008 Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines; burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends will visit with family from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity, Heifer Project or Highland Park Christian Church.
