Richard "Dick" W. Haller

Richard Haller, 90, was born February 17, 1928, to Chester and Daisy Haller in Kanawha, Iowa. He passed away at Iowa Lutheran in Des Moines on July 24, 2018.
Richard graduated from North High School and attended college in Nebraska and Kentucky while serving in the United States Navy. In 1947, he married Joan (McWilliams) Haller and they enjoyed 67 years together until her death in 2014. He was a member of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Highland Park Christian Church in Des Moines and Highland Park Auburn Lodge. Richard was the past president of Iowa Wood Industries Association and owner of Iowa Pallets LTD in Johnston.
Richard is survived by his children, Gail (Tom) Gish and Mark (Cassandra) Haller; grandchildren, Kari, Daniel, Andrew, Natalie, Shelbi, Jamison, Hailey and Kenidi; 13 great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Haller; sister, Avis Shuck; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jack Haller.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Avenue. Visitation will be held at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue on Monday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in loving memory of Richard.

Dear Mark and Family,
