Bette Hedeen

Bette Hedeen, 97, passed away July 24, 2018, peacefully in her sleep. She was born August 16, 1920, to Carl and Muriel Laird.

Bette is survived by her daughter, Lana (Wally) Shea; granddaughters, Tabitha (Brian) Elliott of Lathrop, MO; Sarah McGuiness of Minneapolis, MN; Mindy (Steve) Van Gundy of Ankeny, IA; Rachel (John) Gilbert of Davenport, IA; great-grandchildren, Shealee and Jordan Zesch, Matthew McGuiness, and Julia Gilbert; step great-grandchildren, Blade and Braxton Elliott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hedeen; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Francois Hedeen; brother, Carl E. Laird, Jr.; her sister, Darlene Prokop, and grandson-in-law, David McGuiness.

A celebration of her life will be held Friday, July 27, 2018, at Open Bible Fellowship, 1125 SW 3rd Street, Ankeny, 515-306-1144. Visitation will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m., with the service to follow at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Otho Cemetery in Otho, IA with the family present beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a cause close to Bette’s heart.
